SDG 1 – No poverty
In Norway, around 11 percent of the population experience living with an income that is considered low over a longer period. Nearly 22 percent report lacking the means to cover an unexpected expense. As a responsible and serious actor in the debt collection industry, we want to help reduce people’s financial difficulties. We do this through lower fees than the rest of the industry, as well as by giving those who owe money more opportunities to settle their debts. We do not want to be a company that treats debtors unfairly. We aim to give them the best possible conditions to pay a collection claim without making the situation worse. We encourage others to follow our lead and make a difference, and we are putting pressure on the authorities to establish a new debt collection law that takes debtors into account.
SDG 4 – Quality education
Financial problems have major negative consequences for individuals. For those affected, quality of life is reduced, and experts point to clear links between financial difficulties and health challenges. Financial problems can also lead to negative consequences for both family and friends. That is why preventive work is so important. At Fair, we work to create better understanding and knowledge of personal finance. When more people gain an overview of their own finances, it becomes easier to make smart choices that prevent financial problems. To succeed in this, the threshold for acquiring knowledge about personal finance must be lowered. We continuously share advice, tips, and insights that can help more people make sound financial decisions.

SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth
Trust between parties who do business with each other is essential. Companies and organizations must be confident that they will receive payment for their goods and services. If many of us are unable to pay our bills, the consequences will be dramatic for the businesses waiting for payment. That is why an important goal is to ensure that companies, in a way that is appropriate for both parties, receive payment from their customers. If the payment period becomes too long, the company risks going under due to lack of liquidity. This has major consequences for the business sector and undermines trust in the financial system.
SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production
Every year, millions of paper invoices are sent out by debt collection companies. This places a significant, negative burden on the environment due to paper consumption. In addition, there are indirect emissions from the transport and distribution of these mailings. We believe these mailings are unnecessary, and that is why we advocate simplifying and digitizing the process. We do this both to reduce environmental impact and to make the process easier for those who owe money. Today, as much of Fair’s distribution and communication as legally possible is digital. We also work actively to reduce our use of materials as much as possible. We ensure that our purchases are made through sustainable suppliers, we avoid buying disposable items, and we design our materials so they can be reused for a long time. We also collaborate with a local printing house that is certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, ensuring that our printed materials are produced with minimal environmental impact, made from sustainable materials, and support the local community by being locally sourced.

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the goals
No one can solve the world’s challenges alone. To achieve sustainable development, we depend on strong collaboration between businesses, organizations, and authorities. We recognize that our own contribution becomes far more effective when we work together with others who share our commitment to sustainability. Through collaboration, we can leverage each other’s expertise, resources, and innovative strength to find solutions that create lasting value for both society and the environment. We partner with suppliers and collaborators who actively work with sustainability in their value chains and who, like us, aim to reduce climate impact, strengthen human rights, and promote responsible business practices. By choosing suppliers and partners who share our values, we help build a more responsible and sustainable economy. Through our participation in the UN Global Compact, we also have access to a global network of actors who are actively working toward the same goals.
